Ferry Road TW11

London 2015

The complete refurbishment of a four storey Victorian property to provide accommodation for six people with learning disabilities and a carer. During the design process, liaison with relatives of the future occupants was carried out to discuss the configuration and use of the communal spaces and residents were encouraged to choose individual finishes for their bedrooms. A non-institutional environment has been created which is comfortable and familiar, with easily identified spaces created through the use of different colours. For the six residents, who had never stayed away from their families, the care providers have reported that the home is a very happy and beneficial place for them to live.
