Mathilda Marks - Kennedy School NW7

London 2003/2008/2013

A masterplan was prepared for the site and planning permission obtained following extensive negotiations with the Local Authority, English Heritage and the local community. The scheme has been carried out in phases, consisting of the renovation of the junior block and the original 17th century Hall House which is a Listed Building, the rebuilding of classrooms in 2003 and 2013 and the formation of a new foundation unit, which was completed in 2008 and provides a 58-place pre-school setting for 3-5 year olds. It was awarded a Building Quality Award.  Traditional external materials used in the foundation unit maintain continuity with the adjacent Listed Building and clerestory lighting provides light throughout the day to the spacious, flexible and fully accessible interior of the unit.
