York Way N7 / NW1

London 1992

Built on a prominent corner plot of land at the junction of Camden Road and York Way, this new 3 storey building formed an extension to an existing Victorian terrace of mixed residential and retail buildings. Planning permission was granted following appeal for a mixed use scheme of residential and retail units, with stringent requirements set down by the Local Authority relating to the facades and the use of blanked windows at the corner. The volume of the built form was maximised by chamfering the corners of the end units to allow light to neighbouring buildings.
